Our tiny house vacation rental sits on open farmland just outside historic Waxahachie, Texas, in Ellis County. It's about 3 minutes to Highway 287, 35 minutes to downtown Dallas, and about 55 minutes to Fort Worth, making it an easy, quiet home base for the whole DFW area. You're close to the places guests actually come for: about 10 minutes to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Waxahachie, minutes from Nelson University (formerly Southwestern Assemblies of God University, or SAGU), roughly 15 minutes to the Texas Motorplex, and about 50 minutes to AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field in Arlington.
Is Waxahachie part of Dallas-Fort Worth?
Yes. Waxahachie is the county seat of Ellis County, which is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. From the tiny home, downtown Dallas is about 35 minutes up I-35E and downtown Fort Worth about 55 minutes, without traffic.
We're visiting family in a south DFW suburb. How close is the tiny home?
Close. Without traffic, it's about 20 minutes to Red Oak, Midlothian, Ennis, and Palmer; about 25 minutes to Ovilla, Glenn Heights, and DeSoto; about 30 minutes to Lancaster, Cedar Hill, and Ferris; about 35 minutes to Mansfield and Duncanville; and about 45 minutes to Corsicana. It sleeps 6 to 7, so the whole family can stay together instead of booking a block of hotel rooms.

Is this a good place to stay for the Scarborough Renaissance Festival?
Yes. The festival runs on spring weekends on the southwest side of Waxahachie, and the tiny home sleeps six to seven, so a whole festival group fits.
