Pet-friendly stay near Dallas

Bring the dog. Seriously.

Our tiny home near Waxahachie is pet friendly with approval. Here's our policy, plus where your dog can tag along in town.

Pets are welcome at The Waxahachie Tiny Home with prior approval and a small pet fee. You shouldn't have to board the dog to take a weekend off.

Our pet policy

  • Prior approval. Tell us about your pet (type, size, and how many) when you book.
  • A small pet fee. We'll include it in your total.
  • Easiest route: book on VRBO or Airbnb and put your pet details in your first message, so we can answer everything in one reply.

What your dog will love about the place

  • The porch. A deep, covered porch out in open country. Good for dogs who like to supervise.
  • Room to roam, on a leash. The fields around the home are working farmland, so keep pups leashed when you're out exploring.
  • Quiet. No city noise. Heads up for noise-sensitive dogs: a freight train passes on the far line now and then.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival doesn't allow pets, except service animals. If your trip is built around the festival, plan your dog's day before you head out.

Tips for a Texas trip with a pet

  • Watch the heat. Texas pavement gets hot in summer. Walk early and late, and check the ground with the back of your hand.
  • Bring their stuff. Bed, bowls, food, leash, and any meds, so the new place smells like home.
  • Pack vaccine records. The dog park requires licensed, vaccinated dogs.
  • Save a local vet's number before you arrive, just in case.
  • Crate-trained? Bring the crate. It helps dogs settle in a new place.
