Waxahachie shopping guide

Shopping in Waxahachie and beyond

Boutiques and bookshops around the courthouse square, a Saturday farmers market, a big H-E-B for supplies, and the best of Dallas and Fort Worth shopping within an hour. Hunting antiques? That's its own guide.

Planning a shopping trip to Waxahachie, or wondering where to find boutiques near Dallas without the mall crowds? This guide covers every shop on the square we could confirm, with addresses and hours, plus groceries, outlets, malls, and boots.

We host a tiny home just outside Waxahachie, about 8 minutes from the square, so we've also covered where to eat, where to stay, and a full shopping day.

Shopping in Waxahachie

Waxahachie shopping comes in two speeds. Downtown is slow and local: boutiques in 1890s storefronts, a bookstore in an old house, a popcorn shop, and lunch inside a gift store. Out on Hwy 77 is fast: H-E-B, Target, Home Depot, and everything you forgot to pack.

If you searched for boutiques in Waxahachie, small-town shopping near Dallas, or things to do on the Waxahachie square, start downtown. It's a certified Texas Main Street city, and most shops sit within three blocks of the courthouse.

Downtown Waxahachie parking, directions, and map

From the tiny home, the square is about 3.7 miles, roughly 8 minutes. Parking is free. Downtown has about 1,000 free spaces on the street, in public lots, and in the three-level garage at 205 E. Jefferson St. City studies found the garage's top level more than half empty even at busy times, so skip circling the square. Handicap spaces are on the north side of the courthouse and the garage's first level.

  • Use the free garage at 205 E. Jefferson St. instead of circling the square.
  • Follow shops on Instagram or Facebook. Several post new arrivals and run live sales.
  • Ask about returns before you buy. Some boutiques don't take returns on sale items.
  • Hit the farmers market before 11.
  • Watch for tax-free weekend in August for clothes, shoes, and school supplies under $100.
  • Bring water to the outlets. It's open-air, with little shade.
